Dear Secretary Cardona,

I am writing to share Greater Phoenix Economic Council’s (GPEC) support for Grand Canyon University (GCU) and its invaluable contributions to the region. GCU's esteemed standing in Arizona has been well earned over more than seven decades with continued impact that strengthens the fabric of Greater Phoenix and future of our state.

While not a state university in name, GCU’s long history and focus on public good through its initiatives has earned the university stature as a key Arizona institution. GCU’s critical programs in business, nursing, education, technology and engineering directly support the region’s momentous growth. As leading companies in bioscience and advanced technology increasingly choose Greater Phoenix to locate pivotal research and manufacturing facilities, GCU plays a tremendous role in our future by positioning its students to thrive within quality job opportunities which contribute to a stronger U.S. economy.

Its commitment to affordable education, evident through the diverse backgrounds of its 30,000 annual graduates, creates equity and social mobility. GCU transforms lives, making higher education accessible to Arizonans who otherwise may not have considered college an option.

GCU's longtime influence and more than $2 billion annual economic impact has undoubtedly contributed to a more dynamic Greater Phoenix while helping grow quality business and increase the competitiveness of the region. At no time have I observed GCU misrepresenting the costs of its programs. GPEC wholeheartedly supports GCU's pivotal role in shaping the future of our region while looking forward to witnessing the continued impact of this esteemed institution.

Sincerely,

Chris Camacho

President and CEO, Greater Phoenix Economic Council
